You spent months picking out every little detail — the invitations, the rings, the shoes, the perfume. So naturally, we want to photograph all of it. Having a wedding detail photos checklist ready before your day makes sure nothing gets missed and everything looks its best.
Here’s what usually happens. You’re getting your hair done, your bridesmaids are scattered around the room, and all your carefully chosen details are buried in bags and boxes. Meanwhile, we’re trying to track down your rings and your invitation suite. When you gather everything in one spot ahead of time, it saves us time and guarantees we capture every piece. A simple checklist takes the guesswork out of the morning entirely.
Start with the obvious — rings, bands, and the ring box if you have a special one. Then add your invitation suite, including the envelope and any extra cards. Also, gather your shoes, jewelry, perfume or cologne, vow books, and any heirloom items. If your florist delivers your bouquet early enough, we’ll include that too. Additionally, think about anything with personal significance — a handkerchief, a locket, or a charm for your bouquet.
The easiest thing you can do is designate a bag or box for all your detail items. On the morning of, hand it off to your maid of honor or a bridesmaid and let them know we’ll need access to it. If there are items with sentimental meaning — like a grandmother’s bracelet or a note from your partner — let us know the story. That context helps us photograph it with intention. Similarly, if anything is borrowed or has a special “something blue” meaning, share that with us so we can highlight it.
This isn’t just a bridal thing. Groom details deserve the same attention. Think about your watch, cufflinks, tie or bow tie, boutonniere, cologne, and shoes. Furthermore, if you wrote personal vows or have a gift from your partner, have those ready for us too. These are the items that tell your side of the story. Don’t toss them in a random bag — set them aside where your best man can hand them off easily.
We typically photograph details during the getting-ready portion of the day. So make sure everything is accessible within the first 30 minutes of our arrival. The earlier we can get started, the more creative we can be with the setup. And if your venue has great natural light in a specific spot, we’ll find it.
Your details are part of your story. With a simple wedding detail photos checklist, we can make sure every piece gets the attention it deserves.
